Flexible Accommodations
The nature of timeshares, which has owners buy an increment of time at a particular property, dictates that they should be very flexible. Because you're essentially buying time, it's very easy to trade your week at your "home resort" for a week anywhere in the world. Provided that your resort is affiliated with a large exchange company (a stipulation that you'll want to ensure before you purchase if you're planning on using your timeshare to travel) then you can easily use your week in, say, Costa Rica to travel to Fiji one year and then return again to your home resort the next.
Try a Vacation Club
You can also take the less traditional route and rather than purchase a timeshare with a home resort that you'll be assigned to each year, you can purchase a vacation club membership. Vacation clubs work much like regular timeshares in that they'll still afford their owners weeklong annual or biennial vacations, but differ because rather than have owners return to the same locale, vacation clubs make an array of resorts available to owners to choose from every year. They're generally (though not always) based on a points system, which will allot owners a certain number of points that they can use to "purchase" this time each year.
Find Resales and Rentals Online
